New York, NY – The Linux world grew by yet another distribution this summer, as Paris Hilton announced the release of Tinkerbell Linux. On her MySpace blog, the New York socialite announced the release named after her famous Chihuahua, Tinkerbell.”First,” she writes, “I think The Open Source Movement is, like, really hot. I’ve been dabbling with coding for ages, but it’s taken me some time to find the courage to release it. Paris should have focused more on her modelling career. No offense, she is pretty and stunning. But I think the music industry in not ready for her yet.

Gad, tin11, venturing into music vidis is one thing… I mean, her team obviously put out the production bucks necessary to make credible, even catchy little vidi.
But now she claiming to have coded her own Linux distro, a huge task for even the most guruish geeks.
Did you read the quote?

Saying her self-promo campaigns are marked by a blatant disregard for truth would ring hollow at best. Saying they’re devoid of credibility comes closer to the mark, but misses it, too.
Paris Hilton has taken modern American PR to it’s logical extreme: she can, has and does make any claim to personal prowess she thinks will garner her a bigger fan base and, no matter how outlandish it is, the media gobbles it up, spits it out with a pic of her looking sweet and the world as we know it becomes Hers even more.
Paris has mass-media PR to its satirical extreme and, if she’s actually conscious of doing so, she’s a friggin’ genius, i tell ya.
But in any event, what tinkers my bell is that she’s snatched up Open-source and GNU/Linux into her grab-bag of Paris-Hilton promotional toys and all us neglected geeks are going to gain more from this than from all the hype that’s been put out by IBM, HP and the Free Software Association over the last decade or so.
So, i say, “Go Paris, go! Flash that snatch a few more times for the Tux!” (((
